Feature Enhancement Request: Update SGN Client via SafeGuard Console

We would like to submit a feature request for an autoupdate feature for SafeGuard Enterprise clients on both Windows and Mac.  If this can't be done, can we get some logic added in that would prevent a user from upgrading their OS if they don't have a comparable version of SafeGaurd installed.  There is strong concern in our community right now about users performing an in-place upgrade from 10.10 to 10.11 without having SafeGuard 7.0.2 installed.

Thanks,

Jeremy

  • Apparently if you check for updates before upgrading to Windows 10 the installation will not proceed if you have Safeguard 6.0 or 6.1 installed.

I think upgrades to Windows 10 are blocked by the Safeguard application in 7.01.

Currently there is no way to update via the console and I don't think its something Sophos are keen/able to develop.

I *think* the only change for Macs in 7.02 is that the installer is told it can accept 10.11. In previous versions the upgrade failed if the version number wasn't on some sort of list of compatible products in the PKG - even though the app itself would still work. I am upgrading a test machine and will let you know how I get on.

  • Upgraded OSX successfully to 10.11.

Everything appears to work - however Safeguard will stop synchronising until its upgraded to version 7.02. The device will continue to be encrypted as it uses Filevault.

    Regards
    Simon
  • Please add an auto-update feature to the SGN console. It's supposed to be an 'enterprise' product, after all...
