Upgrading SafeGuard Client from 8.0 to 8.1

With the help of Sophos support yesterday, we upgraded our SafeGuard Manager to version 8.1 from version 8.0.  Question is upgrading clients from 8.0 to 8.1.  Not sure if this can be done automatically or not, maybe I have to do it manually per machine.  (Less than 20 at this point.)  Do I need to uninstall the entire package on the client then reinstall with 8.1 or can I run the new Managed Client to upgrade?  Or what?  Most systems are Win 10 64 bit with a few scattered Win 7 64 bit machines.

  • You should be able to run the new client on top of what's there, you shouldn't need to uninstall. You will need the latest configuration package from the server to install too - so there will be two MSI's.

You could either do this manually (which to be honest with less than 20 I'd do that) or if you have GPO's/AD then you could bundle it into a software package to install from a share.
