Synchronized Encryption on Hyper-V Fileservers?

Looking at the release notes for 8.10:

Virtualization platform support.

The SafeGuard Client only supports VMware Workstation and Player as virtualization platform. All other platforms like VMware ESX/ESXi Server, Microsoft Virtual PC, Microsoft Hyper-V are not supported. VirtualBox is incompatible with SafeGuard 8.1 and might cause BSODs (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

We have some potential customers looking at Safeguard Synchronized Encryption that have file servers running Hyper-V. Is that going to be an issue? Does the client have to be installed on the server for the files to be encrypted/decrypted correctly? Or is it all handled on the workstations?

  • Hello

I have the backend (version 8.0, and now 8.10) running on Hyper-V.

I don't have the client installed on the server, only on the endpoints.

The endpoints are all physical machines and not virtual.

    I hope this helps.
