Encrypting without any password?

Hi

I was wondering if it is possible to encrypt drives of end users without any use of password? With bitlocker you can encrypt drives with SID instead of password. Is it possible to encrypt drives with Sophos Safegurd the sameway?

Thanks

  • If you mean use BitLocker without a password - then yes.

If you're Win10 then it's BL only anyway but you will need to use another protector to help secure the data.

    Some of these are....

    TPM

    TPM And PIN

    Startupkey

    Password

So if you don't want a password at boot then you can use TPM only or a startup key (a USB stick with the required drive unlock files) but obviously this is all less secure and not ideal. Your policies within SSG must also be configured this way too but I would recommend a group to be created within SSG and the PC concerned added to this group.
