Quick Question regarding Encrypted HDD

Question

Good Afternoon 
 
 Have spent the last week or so testing Sophos Central Encryption and just had a quick question. If an Encrypted device fails to boot into Windows (TPM + Pin Authentication), how would we be able to obtain the data from the already encrypted drive? 
 Will it still boot into the Bitlocker Screen if the OS becomes corrupt?

If it's a HDD I would remove the drive and place in a caddy. You will then be able to access/unlock this drive in another Windows computer once you've provided the recovery key. 
 With SSD it can be more complex as it may be soldered onto the motherboard rather than an easily removable type. In which case there's a recovery CD.
