v17.5 VOIP (Vonage Business Cloud) Call Drops after 8 min 24 sec

custom intel hardware, 2 core 4GB RAM XG v17.5 MR-14-1

We had pfSense installed on this same hardware and had no issues with Vonage Business Cloud; the entire VOIP system is hosted in the cloud.

Now with SFOS, calls drop at 8 min. 24 second duration; almost every time. Sometimes we can get a call to last 9 minutes.

  • I have a special "Traffic to WAN" rule for the phone IP addresses. Web/malware scanning, Intrusion prevention, web/app control, ect.. all turned OFF. Traffic shaping set to "voip guarantee".
  • NAT is masqueraded to an outbound Virtual WAN IP we have configured on the WAN port.
  • disabled the SIP module, that didn't work
  • disabled h323 module, that didn't work
  • set UDP timeout value to 150, that didn't work

what are my other options to get our VOIP calls working?

    Hi ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

Did you configure UDP flood protection on your firewall? IPS and DoS settings are configured separately on the XG firewall.

Please check under Intrusion Prevention > DoS & spoof protection > DoS settings > UDP flood.

    Thanks,

  • I checked that screen and UDP flood checkboxes are cleared.

If we have the phone on mute, then make a call and let it sit, it will disconnect at 8:24 every time. We are testing this on 2 different phones, same LAN.

But, if the phone isn't on mute, the call continues. It's like w/out any IP packets going out the phone, the call is dropped.
