Sophos Static Routing

Question

Hi Guys, 
 I'm starting to learn Sophos XG and stumble upon this two images below. I would appreciate if someone help me visualize the said pictures since I'm having a hard time understanding it a (a high level diagram maybe?). Also I'm a little bit confuse on the term Gateway used by Sophos, is this the Route? Thanks in advance.

Hello Jayvee, 
 Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community! 
 So the interface will tell to which interface the XG would need to send the traffic for the Destination IP/Network you set, in your case in the first image it says 
 To go to 192.168.2.0/24 send the outbound traffic via the Interface Port1. 
 In the second image it says 
 To of to 192.168.16.0/24 send the outbound traffic via the XG2LAN interface. 
 As per the gateway, you can use if you need the next hop address where the traffic should go! 
 For example in this Diagram 
 
 If I wanted to send traffic from the subnet 10.10.10.0/24 to the Subnet 192.168.15.0 I would configure it like this: 
 
 I would add the Gateway Address because I know where to send the packet in this case to 10.254.254.2 
 If for some reason I didn't know what is the Gateway as maybe I have no control over the next router or next-hop, then you can simply leave the Gateway empty, this assumes the next router knows how to route the traffic to the subnet where you are going.
