Sophos Central Email - Not Receiving Inbound E-mail

Hellow Everyone:

Is there something wrong with Sophos Central E-mail?  Outbound email is working fine.  Inbound email is not working for about 1 hour now.

    There's nothing reported for Sophos Central as of now. You can always check the status page of central: https://centralstatus.sophos.com to see if there are any issues or impact with services.

  • We have confirmed with Sophos support that systems are all working.  But I think we just encountered a "bug???" on Sophos Central Email Gateway Message Encryption.  While Sophos Support is on the phone with us, we enabled Message Encryption.  That's when we noticed that external inbound email is not working.  Upon disabling this option, external inbound email start working again.  Outbound email are not affected.

    This issue is with Sophos Support: #9005733.

  • Sorry everyone for taking this long in updating this case.  Sophos has a documentation regarding the Email Encryption and we totally missed that.  Thanks to Sophos support for pointing that up.  We have followed the advise of Support and seems things are working fine.  We'll continue to monitor and post any issues that we may encounter.

    For everyone's info, here's what support told us:

    "...using Encryption on the Sophos Central you need to make sure that TLS (Transport Layer Security) v1.2 is also enabled on your email gateway  otherwise the connection with Sophos will break and you will not be able to send or receive email. The ciphers required are 'TLSv1.2+FIPS:kRSA+FIPS:!eNULL:!aNULL'"

    The highlighted part was the one we missed :-)
