Can Sophos block specific file or folder?

Hi, I have a question regarding blocking files:

I would like to block read/write access to specific file and/or file type on Endpoints. Can Sophos do this? Seems Data Control can only do part of this job.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi All,

I'm really (badly) suprised that Sophos Endpoint Security antivirus does not offer such fetaure, which is mandatory to protect corporate computers from new virus, which are still not detected by Sophos engine, but where CERTs are giving information on file location / name / version or checksum.

It seems that we have to remain at risk until someone is compromised by the new virus and gently submit it to Sophos Security Center

That sounds very strange in term in reactivity compared to the last ransomware attacks (like 27 June 2017)

Thanks to seriously think to develop such a way to protect us against new non-detected virus.

  • Hi LY,

Sophos Central protects from viruses in the network shares:

So you are protected from bad files but still it would be great to have if we can specify which files extensions can be accessed/used in network shares.

    Regards,
