Issue You can detect and verify the active directory settings in PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, but when you click the 'Synchronize Now' button, it fails with the message:
Synchronize failed! Unexpected Error.

This may happen because you've changed the name of the Master Synchronization Server. You cannot change the server name in the PureMessage Console, so to change the name of the server in PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange:
Download and install the PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange support tools (v3.1).
Extract the contents and run the ConfigEditor.hta application.
Select 'General' from the Select configuration dropdown box and click 'Load configuration'.
Ensure that the Master Server parameter is pointing to a current, valid server running PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange on the network. This server should always be available:
Once you have done this, click 'Save configuration', then close and re-open the PureMessage console and click 'Synchronize' again.
