This article provides information regarding the Web content caching feature of the Sophos XG Firewall. The following sections are covered:
Applies to the following Sophos products and versions Sophos Firewall
Web content caching works by storing downloaded content on disk or in memory on the Sophos XG Firewall when the content is suitable for caching. When another request comes for the same content, that content will be served from the locally stored copy instead of downloading it again from the original web server. Its operation is generally transparent to end-users. The ability to cache content depends on a lot of factors, including the amount of available storage on the device, information provided in the headers by the web server, and so on. For example, we need to be very careful not to serve up confidential content belonging to User A when User B visits the same page with a different login.
To enable Web content caching, go to Web > General settings, under the Advanced section, enable Enable web content cache and then click Apply.
