When installing the Sophos Endpoint on a Windows computer, an error message is received saying, Installation Failed. Failed to download the installer. In the SophosCloudInstaller log file located in C:\ProgramData\Sophos\CloudInstaller\Logs, the similar error below is logged:
Installation Failed. Failed to download the installer
ERROR : Exception: Failed to download stage-2 archive. Status code: --: Failed to connect with any proxy: certificate check failure
This article describes the steps to enable the TLS 1.2 on the endpoint to resolve this installation issue.

This installation issue normally happens when TLS 1.2 is not enabled on the endpoint. To enable TLS 1.2 on the endpoint:
Note: It is recommended to back up the registry first before making any modifications.
Note: To enable TLS 1.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2, create the DisabledByDefault entry in the appropriate subkey (Client, Server) then set it to 0. The entry will not be seen in the registry and it is set to 1 by default. Refer to the TLS 1.2 subkey table below:
