Sophos is aware of an issue affecting Chinese, Japanese and Korean installations of Sophos Anti-Virus. You may see errors relating to update "Unknown" as well as the following:

Applies to the following Sophos product(s) and version(s) Sophos Anti-Virus (VDB 5.45)
Sophos Anti-Virus (SAV) protection is unavailable, customers using Sophos Intercept X or Exploit Prevention will still have Exploit protection and Anti-Ransomware (CryptoGuard) protection.
The (Virus Data Build) VDB version causing the issues has been rolled back to version 5.44.
Endpoints will automatically update and revert back to the previous version of the VDB with no actions needed by the user.
Forcing an endpoint to update will start the process quicker. To confirm you are on the previous version please look at the SAV.txt file found here:
The most recent entries can be found at the bottom and should include a line like below:
<date> <time> Using detection data version 5.44 (detection engine 3.70.2). This version can detect 13979628 items.
This issue is now resolved. If you experience any more issues after the computers have rolled back to VDB 5.44 please contact support.
