This article provides information about duplicate Windows and Linux computer and server entries in the Sophos Central Dashboard.
In April 2017, Sophos rolled out a new feature to Sophos Central designed to detect when systems had been cloned or imaged without first going through the appropriate preparation steps. This was to create a new computer/server object in Sophos Central to manage this system. Due to a defect, this caused many systems to duplicate when they should not have. This functionality has been turned off until we are confident that it can be turned on safely.

Sophos will be automatically removing any server/endpoint marked as a duplicate system on the following dates for the specified region:
This will take place outside of business hours. However, if you are logged into Sophos Central at the time you may see the following:
At this point in time, Sophos cannot automatically remove duplicated systems, due to the risk of removing correct systems. If possible, duplicated systems should be deleted from Sophos Central. Duplicated Endpoint systems will not impact license counts, as they are based on users, however duplicate servers will impact license usage counts.

Note: Should a system be removed in error, it is not possible to recover it from the Sophos Central Dashboard. The Sophos Endpoint Agent must be reinstalled on the client to cause it to re-appear in Central.
