A Schedule defines the time period during which certain rules and policies are applied to the network. Schedules can be applied to Firewall Rules, Rogue Access Point scans, and Web/Application Filter Policies. This article explains how to apply a schedule to a specific web category in Sophos XG Firewall.
Sophos XG Firewall Device is shipped with the following predefined schedules, which can be applied to firewall rules and various policies:
Scenario: A schedule has been created for Web-based Emails. Users will be allowed to access Web-based Emails only during the lunch hours: 1 PM to 3 PM (every day).
Prerequisite: You must be subscribed to the Web Protection Module.
Applies to the following Sophos products and versions Sophos Firewall Applicable Version: 17.0 onwards
You must be logged in to the Admin Console as an administrator with Read-Write permissions for the relevant feature(s).
Lunch Hours All Days
Enter a name for the Schedule.
Recurring – Used to create access time policies that are only in effect at the specified time(s) or on the specified day(s) of the week.
One Time – Used to create Firewall Rules that are only used once for the period of time specified in the schedule. It cannot be applied to any of the policies, and can only be implemented through a Firewall Rule.
Start & End Date – Specify the Start and End date. This is only applicable for the One Time schedule.
All days of the week
This is the default setting.
You can also search for the category's name in the search text box provided.
Lunch hours all days (created in step 1)
Select the Schedule for the selected categories.
You can apply the policy to a Firewall Rule so that it is applied to all traffic that matches the rule.
You can apply the policy to individual users or user groups. As an example, we have applied the policy to a user named John Smith.
