Central Firewall Reporting EAP for V18 is here!

Hi, some of the testers v. 18 EAP received such an email with a token to activate the early version of Central Firewall Reporting in Sophos Cloud.

Central Firewall Reporting EAP for V18 is here!
Dear Sophos Early Access Program Member,
Thank you for taking the time to register for the XG Firewall v18 Early Access Program (EAP). We appreciate your help in testing all the new features we’ve packed into the v18 firmware.

As part of the registration process you indicated to us that you would also like to participate in our Central Firewall Reporting (CFR) Early Access Program. CFR is Sophos’ new cloud-based reporting solution that provides you with a powerful, flexible set of tools to create reports on network activity through Sophos Central and your XG Firewall.
Enabling Your Central Firewall Reporting EAP License
Attached is an access token that will enable CFR for your specific Sophos Central account. This is a unique token and should not be shared with anyone:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To use the token, please follow these steps:

Go to the "Early Access Programs" section in Sophos Central, listed under your account.

Enter your unique invitation code for the CFR EAP and join the program.

The associated EAP program will appear in the list.

Please note that you will need to make sure your XG Firewall is running v18 firmware. Also, note that the XG 86 and XG 106 are not currently supported for the CFR EAP.

We encourage you to test each of the out-of-the-box reports CFR offers as well as the hundreds of variations you can create tailored to your organization’s specific needs.
Accessing CFR
From the v18 XG Firewall, enable Central Firewall Reporting by navigating to Central Synchronization > Configure > and Use Sophos Central Reporting.

From Sophos Central, navigate to Firewall Management > Firewalls > (accept services if you have not done so previously) and open the ... menu and View Device Reports. An example is shown below:

Share Your Feedback
Similar to the XG Firewall v18 EAP, please share your Central Firewall Reporting EAP feedback via the Community site or through your XG Firewall’s feedback mechanism in the user interface.
Regards,
Your Sophos Central Firewall Reporting Product Team

Check your inboxes! It looks pretty cool ;-)

PS You must wait a little bit till logs goes to Sophos Central cloud.

best regards

  • This is really good hopefully it looks good and reports are better than on-box reports. Another thing I wonder is, For CFR (Central Firewall Reporting) they picked to have it on Sophos Central instead of CFM (partner). Does this mean Sophos Central going to eventually replace Sophos CFM (the partner edition of firewall management that hasn't been updated in ages it looks)?

Edit: I activated mine, it looks very nice and polished. Nice and fast. Nice Dashboard, and Reports too. Way better than CFM. I don't see any kind of Schedule feature or Export feature yet to sent an email, but it's getting there.

  • Thanks all for sharing.  I hope others post their feedback on this as the on-box reports are another point of frustration with most.

When it comes to CSFM and SFM, I'm starting the migration off once the central groups feature is GA.  I feel like those products are legacy and will die soon.  Just my opinion.

  • I'm seeing and planning the same. I don't really know a good way right now to organize and separate customer networks though in Sophos Central and you just made a light bulb go off in my head about the Firewall Groups feature.

If Sophos makes these work well, AND gives us hostnames (Not just IP's) in every type of report, and makes reverse DNS work automatically without setting static entries; I'd IMMEDIETLY begin selling XG's to everyone and their grandma and dog. I guess I'm a real fan of having transparent logs and reports that are easy to diagnose. And having reports with hostnames for Executives is a huge must for me.
