VLAN tagged only interface with XG

Hi,

is it possible in SFOS 17.5.14 MR-14-1 to configure an interface with tagged VLANs only? I don't want to have an IP on the physical interface (untagged).

  • i theory you're right, but I can confirm that when I configured a wan interface a for an ISP, the Interface had to have an IP Assigned to it to allow the config of the VLAN to connect to the ISP, so I configured 128.0.0.1/32.

Curious enough to take it apart, skilled enough to put it back together, Clever enough to hide the extra parts when I'm Done!

  • You do not have to do this anymore in V18.

V18 allows a VLAN interface on a non configured Interface.

(Be aware, do not remove the config of the hardware interface after placing VLANs. That will remove the VLANs as well!)

  • Is it possible in V18MR3 to have a single NIC with untagged being WAN and tagged being internal?  I have 2 ACEPCAK2 which would be fun to test the home version on but it only has 1 NIC.   Its a 2.2GHz Celeron with 4GB RAM 64GB eMMC and 120 GB 2.5 in SATA so it should be a fine little box - just only has one Intel NIC in it.
