Best way to protect indoor office camera

Hi community,

How to protect indoor camera system via XG.

Camera is ip cam and defined static ip.

Has firewall rule as any any.
No any protection rule applied (ips, httpscan vice versa)

What is best practice rule to protect this kind of devices?

  • Do not trust them too much. Some have poorly written code and open backdoors, some have call home or silent remote access by the vendor. Consider them as a foreign computer in your network.

Put them in a FW zone that you isolate from your LAN. Block CamZone to LAN and CamZone to WAN communication. Allow only Communication to your surveillance center on the ports required or to a dedicated surveillance storage. Allow only management ports going into your CamZone from your LAN.

If you need remote access to surveillance do this to your surveillance center, not to each cam.

  • thanks for the support
How to achive this structure? Is there any KB for this?
Is this related to VLAN? define isolation from internal network to mac address of the ip cam?

    Thanks alot
