Sophos Connect 2.0 - Installing New Configurations

Playing around on my laptop, that used to have the SSL client installed. I've uninstalled that, installed Connect 2.0 and can import my existing connections from C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Sophos SSL VPN Client\Config and that seems to work fine.

I then uninstalled it all to test the behavior when setting it up from scratch. I installed Connect 2.0, then wanted to see what happens when running the *USERNAME*__ssl_vpn_config.exe file from the user portal. Seems to automatically detect the Connect client instead of the SSL client, which is great! But it fails to install with a generic error "Installing Configuration Files: cannot open conf file" and "copy failed"

Is installing configuration from the user portal not yet supported, or is that an issue?

  • You do not need to follow this process.

If you want to manually install the file, instead of automatically, you need to select the Openvpn file. Simply select "other OS" in user portal. This file should be perfectly fine to import.

Or use the automatic installation process.

  • Sounds like an easy enough alternative. Mostly just trying to find a simple set of instructions for users, so this should be fine.

    Cheers.
