Backup cannot be restored on current firmware V17 to V18 XG115W

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade from V17 to V18 but whatever I do, I cannot restore my V17 backup file.

I am running an XG115W. Previously I have migrated from Cyberoam to Sophos XG, from cyberoam 85 hardware to Sophos XG105, from XG105 to XG115W. All whitout any issues.

Now I trying to upgrade from V17 current version to V18.01 mr1 with upgrade file, no luck.

Did the upgrade by using clean hardware install (ISO and USB Stick) Still the backup file cannot be installed.

Is this a device issue because I use a Wireless model?

Any ideas?

Which version was the original V17 backup?

Hi,

I tried it before a couple of months ago with V18 GA, didn't work then.

Now I tried it with 17.5.14_MR-14-1, same result

V17.5 MR13-14 is not supported as for now to updated or restored on V18.0 MR1. You need MR3 for this move.

Ok, then I will have to start from scratch, MR12 config is too old, too many changes :-(

MR2 just came out, when will MR3 be available?

agreed facing the same issue .. i have to upgrade from v17 because pppoe wont reconnect after a dropped connection ? now i i have v17-mr14-1 ? and want to ugprade to v18 and cannot because of the same error message sophos support seems to be far and few inbetween and really struggling with this . Any suggestions ? when will MR-3 be released if not any time soon does this mean that my client must remain with the problem?

hi Greg, what I did was download V17-MR12 ISO, make a boot thump with rufus, then clean install V17-mr12, restored the latest backup i had on MR12, and then upgraded to V18. This worked fine. The changes I made between MR12 and MR14 i had to do them over again. So hopefully you still have a mr12 backup and havent changed much in between.

Hi,

i have SFOS 17.5.14 MR-14-1

i am also facing the pppoe connection drop. and after checking for new firmware upgrade it shows you have latest firmware.

but in sophos id account it shows the firmware there is 3 firmware upgrade shows

1) HW-17.5.14_MR-14-1.SF300-714.gpg

2) HW-18.0.2_MR-2.SF300-403.sig

3) HW-18.0.3_MR-3.SF300-457.sig

but how to update this firmware after downloading from there?

also is there safe to upgrade HW-18.0.3_MR-3.SF300-457.sig ?

You need to use the MR3 version. Upload it to XG and boot. https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000035819?language=en_US

You have to use this arrow showing up. As XG has two Software slots, you can switch between both firmware versions.
