Virtual Email Appliance cluster

heres the back ground.

we currently have 3 sites each of these sites have an internet connection configurered for incoming and outgoing email. Also in each site is an Exchange 2010 CAS/HUB array and in front of each of these arrays is a Virtual Email Appliance. The 3 appliances are configured in a cluster configuration. In the Mail Delivery Server section of the appliances I have each sites CAS/HUB array listed. For some reason only one of these servers are being used. Is there any way in a cluster configuration of getting each site to use there respective email delivery server instead of them deliving mail through the one?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Paul,

Clustering shares this configuration between all appliances.  So whilst you have the option to enter multiple mail delivery servers, these will either be used as a failover or round-robin.

One thought - does each appliance use a different DNS server?  You could use an alias for the mail delivery server (eg. exchange.mydomain.tld).  Then, you'd just need to give the DNS alias a different IP on each DNS server.

    Thanks,

    Tom.
