XG 125 WAN Full-Duplex not working

I just purchased a XG 125 and have been working to configure it with my ISPs settings.  I have it mostly up and running, but need to force the WAN interface to 100Mb Full-Duplex instead of auto-negotiate.  As soon as I change it to Full-Duplex, the interface shows an 'Unplugged' status and I lose connection to my ISP, even though it is still connected.  Is there something else I need to update to run the WAN interface in Full-Duplex mode?

  • Hi,

The preferred negotiation mode is Auto. Is the ISP line deployed through an intermediate modem/router to the UTM? In that case, if the modem is not capable of negotiating on the configure duplex, the negotiation attempts can fail and result in disconnection.

You can also check on what duplex is the modem configured.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the quick response!

My ISP (Cogent Communications) requires us to hard code the interface to 100 Full-Duplex and disable auto-negotiation.  The circuit hand-off is Fast Ethernet, which is connected to my Sophos XG 125 running in Gateway Mode.  There's nothing in between my XG 125 and Cogent's circuit.
