Email appliance clustering

I just want to know if anyone did this and what are the good and bad side to cluster 2 sophos email appliance (one virtual and one physical)

    Hi,

    We have customers whom have done this, the only minimum requirement is that both appliances are running the save software release version and that they are accessible over the network via port 24 on TCP/UDP protocols. 

    Was there something specific that you wanted to know regarding the mixed type of architecture?
