Hotspot session length

Hello everyone, is there a way to define a Hotspot with a session length of more than 1 week?

Colleagues are complaining, they have to renew their phone-logins every week. I understand this, but I found no other way.

I need to distinguish Mobile-Phone Users from regular laptops in our internal network.

So I authenticate real workstations with AD (Radius, WindowsServer) and other mobile devices via Hotspot. The latter only get internet access.

Because there is no way to directly authenticate a WLAN-Connection to a Sophos-User, i don't want to waste AD-Licenses. So using Hotspot was the only way I found.

Maybe someone has a better idea

Thank you in advance

  • Hi, Stefan, and welcome to the UTM Community!

According to the Help, the longest time you can define is two years, not seven days.

  • Hi Bob,

thank you for your answer, I am afraid I did not state clearly how I set up my hotspot, sorry for the confusion.

For Vouchers this is true, but I am using Backend-Authentication. So there is a separate selection drop-down for the session length. It allows me to choose something between 2 hours and 1 week.
And this is way too short for our purposes.
