Horrible Throughput & Non 300mbps speeds on AP 30

I am running UTM v9.353-4 ASG Software as a Hyper-V virtual machine with 4GB of Ram and 2 vCPU 2.0Ghz. I recently setup a WLAN with AP 30 and noticed horrible throughput when benchmarking on speedtest sites. the AP 30 is connected to a 100megabit switch on the Internal interface of the Sophos UTM however when I benchmark with my laptop on 100megabit LAN I get 60 megabits up/down which is the speed of my FIOS connection. When connected Wifi 2.4Ghz Auto Channel I barely get 7 megabits and this is just a single client! The Clients list in UTM interface shows my connection speed as 144mbps (shouldn't it be 300?) and yet I am not getting anywhere close to that. I know there is overhead and it is limited by 100mbps switch interface but I expect to get at least 40mbps or so.

I have even tried turning off all filtering including Web, Advanced, Firewall, QOS, etc and it doesn't budge, my client is a Macbook that supports 802.11n/ac and with prior routers I am able to get full 60/60 speed on internet connection connecting at 300mbps rate. UTM CPU and Memory usage never go above 60%

  • Thanks Balfson.

I did apply the HT40 setting via SSH commands are shown in the thread and rebooted both UTM and AP but speed still shows as 144. When I use a wireless scanner on my Macbook it shows Wifi SSID as being in 802.1b/g/n mode. I only have n clients. Anyway to set it to 802.1n mode only as I think it is only in that mode you get 40mhz wideband on 2.4ghz right?

The UTM is running as a Hyper-V vm on a Dell Poweredge R610 and is mapped to the 4 Physical NICs built into the server which are Broadcom BCM5709C. 1 NIC is for External interface, 2 for Internal Testing Networks and last one is my Internal interface which the AP 30 is connected to with no VLAN tagging (I am not doing VLAN on any interfaces)
