AP30 inactive on ASG but is able to transmitting signal

Hi All,

Not sure if anyone is facing this same issue. I have 5 AP30 connected to ASG220 on two ports which I bridged. DHCP is enabled so the AP30 are able to be authorized from ASG220 box. I created 3 SSID, where 2 SSID is SEPARATE ZONE and the other SSID is BRIDGED TO AP LAN.

Occasionally, I see 3 or 4 APs becoming inactive. But when I went onsite and use inSSIDer, I am able to see the inactive AP broadcasting the SSID I configured. It is working but ASG220 still see it as inactive.

I created a static mapping for the AP30s. When I SSH to ASG220, I am able to ping those AP30 and the latency was less than 1ms without ping drops. So connectivity between ASG and the APs should be okay.

I went through the logs and checked if the inactive APs are 'talking' with the ASG. In the logs, I only see entries for the active APs (type:'3' entries).

Anyone faced this same issue?

    Hi mkleine,

    Do you have this problem for v8.202? I have a 5 x AP30s running for a Forex trading company. So far, I have not checked if the AP30s have 'quit' talking to the management console but I will watch if this is present in my setup.

    Just a note to report that the 8.202 upgrade seems to have fixed the wireless problems.

    Also, in case some one as this issue, I had one AP30 that not only disappeared from the management console, it actually quit talking to the wi-fi clients. We had to power cycle the AP30 about a dozen times before I was able to get the 8.202 up and running.

    Two other AP30's simply quit talking to the management console, but stayed working.

    Hi mkleine,

    Do try the v8.202 update. It works as  i don't see my APs getting inactive anymore. Only drawback. You have to reboot all connected APs.

    I've had the same problem with only 1 of 3 AP30's since the 8.201 upgrade.

    Yeah, the support just told me. I have not installed mine yet as I need to announce a downtime. Let me know if it solves your problem too. I would like to find out. [:)]

    8.202 Soft release is out which should fix the problem:

    Note: You have to manually restart the AP's!

    I haven't tried this, but you could try disabling the wireless security then re-enabling it.
    Mine failed and was power cycled, but since then I have re-built or restarted the ASG a number of times so not sure where the issue re-occurs.

    About this v8.202, it isn't out yet (today's 22nd September 2011). When would it be scheduled to be launched or is there a rpm patch for this? I might need it pretty urgently.
    It was announced that there will be a soft-release of 8.202 at some time this week.

    Another thing, can we remotely reboot the AP30? I am able to ping the APs but can I telnet or ssh to the access point and issue a reboot?
    Astaro APs don't support SSH or Telnet currently.  If there is new firmware for the AP's in 8.202, they will install it and reboot on their own.

    The AP is inactive again this morning.

    I'm sure i had this problem too before i installed 8.201. But anyway, we will see as soon 8.202 is out.

    Oh, okay. I was worried it was a cable issue otherwise I have to advise my client to replace his newly installed cable just 3 days ago. He won't be happy at all.
