Guest Wifi on RED10 (with AP10) using REDs internet (no split)

I have a RED 10 and AP10 and I have the RED working in Standard/Split with a single wifi network for corporate devices.

What I want to do is create a Guest wifi network which only has internet access, preferably going direct to the internet with the REDs internet connection.

I haven't been able to get this to work.  Has anyone got a working solution to do this?

  • Yes - this works.

    We know that the UTM will only accept Sophos AP's from known networks listed in:
    Wireless Protection -> Global Settings

    Check to see that the network provisioned on the RED also is listed in the Allowed Interfaces. That seems to be the step most (that includes me from time to time) forget to include.

    Once that is done, the AP will be visible in the UTM's Wireless Protection -> Access Point and needs to be accepted. Then just add the wireless network to the AP.

  • Hi balletbob,
    You cannot cannot go to the Internet with the guest wifi from RED without going through UTM.

    The UTM uses VXLAN for guest networks (Seperate zone), and will send everything to a NEW interface on the UTM, this interface can be configured to just allow internet access, and not giving access to the corporate networks, we have this runnin g many places :-)

    One important thing, you wrote that you use standard/split operation with the RED device, in the "Split Networks", you will have to add the WIFI Management "magic" IP to it, this is called "1.2.3.4".
    So create a host object and call it WIFI MGMT. and add IP 1.2.3.4 as it's address.

    Then as N8XJA1 states, add the RED devices LAN Interface to the list here: Wireless Protection -> Global Settings
