Web Proxy Local content filtering database?

Might be a silly question techuser, but you are using version 8.100 correct?

yes it is 8.100

Did you get any return messages when entering commands. For example, when I logged in as loginuser and then did SU to root, I was in a place in the file structure where cc set http sc_local_db didn't exist, so I had to do cd .. to go "back" a couple of directories, if that makes sense.
 
Failing all else, if it were me, I'd do a quick reboot then try again.
 
In my case, I didn't keep an eye on the process. Took the "a watched pot never boils" approach. I ran the commands posted above when nothing else was going on, saw on the dashboard in WebAdmin that inbound on my WAN interface was being used, then scurried off for 15 minutes. When I got back, Inbound on my WAN interface had gone back down, mem usage had gone from 52% to 61% (2GB), and checked that I could surf.

I rebooted many times started it again, even in the dashboard nothing was unusual!!!

Worked great here on a testbed machine... this is going to be great for those customers of mine with already-crowded uplinks to the Internet!

This worked great for me.  I was looking at other web solutions because Astaro slowed me doww.  Now I can get back to other tasks since my speeds are fast.  Almost like not having proxy turned on.  Great work and hope to see this on 8.2.

techuser:  Ok, I'm stumped and since this is currently an unsupported feature, you may have to wait until the release of 8.200 in a few months.
 
The only other thing that I would try, if it were me, is this:
 
1)  Take a backup in WebAdmin
2)  Download the backup to your PC
3)  Reinstall Astaro from ISO
4)  don't restore the backup yet.  Go through the initial setup wizard to get yourself temporaily setup with internet access and the HTTP proxy enabled.  Just do the minimum configuration to get things working.
5)  up2date back to 8.100
6)  now go through the steps above to enable local cff database and wait until it is downloaded to your system (hopefully).
7)  now import and restore your backup
 
I think that this would get it running without having to worry about any potential problems or conflicts with your current config.  Depending on your bandwidth, the whole process should take less than an hour.

techuser if you can't get it to work, drop me a PM with the login details to your box. I can have a look at it for you...

This feature is indeed planned for 8.200, however its also available in 8.100 as an unofficial easter-egg for some early testing. You are welcome to give it a whirl.

I have a question about content filtering function. Some months ago I read in the userbb that ASG runs a query for each category to block. Could you please clarify how it works? 

another question: you omitted 320, it can use ram database cf or not?

Any Astaro 8.100 installation, software or hardware, is capable of using this feature eclipse79.  It really comes down to performance and the amount of system resources available.  If less than 2GB RAM, I personally would use disk based mode.  If you have at least 2GB RAM, then RAM mode works great.  This is not to say that those with 1GB of RAM can't use RAM mode, but I'm guessing that you'd wind up with quite a bit more SWAP usage and performance degredation.
