Did you get any return messages when entering commands. For example, when I logged in as loginuser and then did SU to root, I was in a place in the file structure where cc set http sc_local_db didn't exist, so I had to do cd .. to go "back" a couple of directories, if that makes sense.
Failing all else, if it were me, I'd do a quick reboot then try again.
In my case, I didn't keep an eye on the process. Took the "a watched pot never boils" approach. I ran the commands posted above when nothing else was going on, saw on the dashboard in WebAdmin that inbound on my WAN interface was being used, then scurried off for 15 minutes. When I got back, Inbound on my WAN interface had gone back down, mem usage had gone from 52% to 61% (2GB), and checked that I could surf.
