SUM what UTM ID show in dashboard ?

Hellow. Help me please!
What ID shows in dashboard, when i move mouse over device name ?
I see Public IP, Internal IP, and some ID like  8X-4X-4X-12X.

And how can i change it ?

  • It's the GUID, a unique code for every UTM.  Why would you want to change it?

  • Beacause i have more that 50 UTM`s with the same GUID. And all of them can`t connect to one SUM server.
In UTM i have next err :

    SSL-connect: 'IO::Socket::INET configuration
    or
    starting '/usr/sbin/acc-agent.plx'

  • i have found right command to change it :

you're right. SUM identifies the UTMs by a GUID, which is called "system_id". You can reset this system_id on the cloned machine by running the following command on the UTM (as root):

    cc reset_system_id

when i reset system id in all my gateways , it all connect to UTM immediately. And all error gone.
  • Yes, had a customer with the same issue with 6 UTMs... be aware that if you are using Sophos Endpoint, that changing that ID will affect your client deployment (badly) -- so if using Sophos UTM Endpoint, consult Sophos Support before executing that command.

  • Hi,

thanks for this useful information. Does cc reset_system_id do anything further to changing the guid? Do i have to expect any loss of connectivity?

    Regards

  • I used the reset button in webadmin without any bad impact. The good thing is, that the utm is now able to connect to my sum again.

@ Bob: In this case, i probably configured this machine by restoring a backup without site specific data....

    But another case closed, thanks!
