Recover RED unlock codes from nonbooting FW

Background:

RED's bought x years ago and been running on one of my UTM's since. (Love the RED's by the way... )

One UTM died(unable to boot, due to GRUB failure), and I did not write the unlock down for one of the RED's...

Replaced the FW some time ago, one RED I had failed to make a proper archive of the unlock code for.

Options moving forward:

1) Fix the GRUB so the machine can boot and the unlock code can be extracted... (Gave this up, and replaced the FW. Might go back here... but... )

2) Identify if the unlock code is available on the drive of the nonbooting UTM. (File, database... whatever... and where.. )

3) Contact support (whats the fun in that.)

Question:

Does anyone know if #2 is a valid option? Even though I love getting intimate with the UTM's (ref. MTU before...) with Christmas coming I might be taking a bit aggro prioritizing this...

Relevant information to shorten the effort would be of interest.

Thanks!

  • Hi Vegard,

best Option would be to restore your Backup into a Virtual Machine and read the codes in Webinterface.

i don't think #2 is a valid Option you'll find that info in cc but not file based.

#3 and #1 would be better (preferred order)
