Interface Hardware question

So I just started a new job and we are using a Sophos utm 9. It was already there when I started so all I've been doing is monitoring it. Over the weekend the main interface went down so I hooked the cable directly into my laptop and the connection was fine. Checked the interface hardware and decided to set the main interface to auto negotiate and everything started working. However before I was getting 50/50 and now I'm getting 25/5. Can't seem to get it to work unless I use auto negotiate which I believe is causing the problem. Called my ISP and they said to set it to 100 full. When I do so that interface stays down. Is this a known issue or is there any suggestions you have?

  • Hi,

In brief, interface speed is set to avoid mismatch in speed negotiation between two communicating devices. Hence, it is important to set the correct value. If you cannot access the ISP device I suggest you to deploy an intermediate unmanageable switch.

    Hope that helps :)
