NTP no longer providing for clients

9.402-7, and this has been a problem that I noticed since 9.3 update.

None of my client machines, NAS, nothing will now use my UTM for NTP, and nothing was changed on my end to make it stop working.

I tried to disable NTP, reboot and then re-enable it.  Still won't do anything.  No idea what log to look at for NTP failures, and I have been through every one of mine that are showing with data in the log, nothing so far.

  • Hi,

I am not sure whether you want to disable NTP on UTM or enable it. If you are trying to enable it, please post the configuration screenshot.

    Thanks

  • Yeah, I mis-typed my title, but the contents of my post are pretty accurate in what I was conveying.

I have had NTP enabled on my UTM for a long time, ever since I can remember.  It doesn't work anymore.  I didn't change anything, but clients are not updating their time when they are pointed to the UTM.

Not sure why something that's been in place for years now, and hasn't changed, then it decided not to work anymore.

  • So I take it that you are stumped beyond belief as to what logs I can check for this failure?  It was working.  Just fine.  Then 9.3 came along, and ever since, my computers and NAS error out on NTP updating.

  • It may be too late now if you've made a lot of changes.  Sometimes an Up2Date process stumbles in updating the configuration, so the first thing I suggest when something stops working is to restore the backup from before the Up2Date that broke something.  At least, you could make a new backup, try the restore trick and then restore the new backup to keep all the changes you made.  Did that work?
