changed port config, can't connect via WebAdmin

I fear that my issue will result in a reset, but wanted to warn everyone else.

BE VERY CAREFUL when changing port configurations on the SG115w.  I wanted to change the 2 LAN-side ports (eth0 and eth2) to 1000Full with no HA, change the WAN port to 100Full with HA, and the HA port (eth3) to a second, strictly-backup WAN port with Auto-duplex and HA.  Unfortunately, I confused eth0 with eth1, so I changed eth1 to 1000Full with no HA and I changed eth0 to 100Full with HA.

Now, the only port that responds when I connect an ethernet cable is eth1, but I cannot connect to WebAdmin via browser.  When I connect directly to the device via VGA monitor and USB keyboard, it tells me to connect to WebAdmin via the LAN IP of the device, but when I connect to the device via ethernet cable, my browser always times out when attempting to connect to WebAdmin.

Is there a way for me to get back into the device, or am I stuck redoing my entire configuration?

And shouldn't this be just a little harder to do?

Thanks in advance for responding.

  • Not sure if you have turn on the SSH access. If not, try this method to have root access to the device https://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/115346.aspx

    Then log in via CC

    root#cc

    127.0.0.1 MAIN >RAW
    127.0.0.1 RAW >lock_override
    127.0.0.1 RAW >OBJS

    127.0.0.1 OBJS > itfhw

    127.0.0.1 OBJS itfhw > ethernet

127.0.0.1 OBJS itfhw ethernet > REF_Itf    If you hit 'tab' you will see the list of active interfaces.

Example : On the eth1 change to auto-negotiate or hardware setting according to your requirement.

    127.0.0.1 OBJS itfhw ethernet [REF_ItfEthEth1IntelCorpo] >auto_negotiation=1

    127.0.0.1 OBJS itfhw ethernet [REF_ItfEthEth1IntelCorpo] > w

It might require reboot for the changes to take affect.

    Hope it helps.
