UTM 120 - very high load with confd.plx, no connection to WebAdmin (Error 500)

Hi,

our  UTM 120 in  Branch Office (less than 10 User)  runs with very high load (avg 6 - more than 10) since one 9.x Upgrade (Don't know which one).

When  I try to connect to webAdmin the load increases dramatically and the WebAdmin come to Error 500.

Connections and Site2Sites are working but I'm not able to do things on the firewall. I have updated the firewall via CLI to the latest build, Reboot and other things doesn't work. I have only ssh-access at the moment.

Any Hints?

Thanks!

  • Hi,

    very interesting solution:

After a lot of time for research and log deep diving i found in confd.log and confd-debug.log that dns-resolver.plx have changed ip-adresses for definied NTP-DNS-Hosts. In the past we have defined some ntp-servers (f.eg. 0.north-america.pool.ntp.org). This dns-hosts were automatically changed by dns-resolver.plx extremely often (one time per second?) and so the load grows...

After deletion from this old (unused) DNS-hosts in hosts and definitions (difficult because of veeery slow webadmin) the problem was gone completely! Now I have a load smaller than 0.5!

It seems that there is a problem with dns-resolver.plx regarding some dns-requests since one 9.3x-Update...
