WAN interface drops multiple times per day

The WAN interface drops connection multiple times per day. I have switched to different hardware with the same issue. The symptoms indicate a DNS issue, but system logs are not showing DNS failures. I have followed the DNS best practice from the KBs on the support portal. I've had my modem replaced and ISP indicates it's not there end.  The issue is intermittent and connectivity comes back fairly quickly but it is enough to drop any client connections to the outside world.  I put another gateway in-front of the UTM to see if maybe it was the connection from the ISP to my UTM but it would still drop on WAN.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Hi, David, and welcome to the UTM Community!

I've seen this caused by a "fight" between the ISP's equipment and the UTM NIC connected to it. See what fixed speed and duplex settings they offer and set both devices to the same so that there's no more auto-negotiation.
