DNS request routing does not work

I have setup the request routing so that any dns query for my domain.    contoso.com should be redirected to my internal  ad/dns server. my assumption is that it will also route any subdomain such as corp.contoso.com to the internal server. When i do an nslookup i get

*** 192.168.1.1 can't find computer1.corp.contoso.com: Server failed

and in the UTM logs i see

2016:01:08-17:48:44 ElectroSophos named[10558]: connect(fe80::b09f:f5ef:5d88:d8e8#53) 22/Invalid argument

2016:01:08-17:48:44 ElectroSophos named[10558]: socket.c:5403: unexpected error:
when i query the domain server directly with nslookup it works fine

Address: 192.168.1.10

Name: computer1.corp.contoso.com

  • Just to update everyone on the topic. It appears as though it is an issue with the way something is configured on the server itself or how it is responding. i would like to get to the bottom of this; but simply pointing the reroute to a RODC with DNS, the hostnames resolve with proper IP ..
