Setting up surfing quota policy for network group

Hello,

I want to setup and implement a policy for a maximum amount of hours a day internet connection for a group of network devices, based on static network entries. We are not using not users/groups on out networks because that's to much hassle and we don't people to login all the time. Is it possible to setup such policy for a for a network or mac address group on UTM 9?

  • I think I understand now, Sachin, that there's a bit of confusion between "per user" or "user wise" and "by user name."  Certainly, you are correct that you can only make rules for a user name in Web Filtering.  You can effectively achieve "per user" limitations in QoS by making a "per IP" selection in the Traffic Selector definition.  English can have some subtle traps in terminology.

  • Hi,

Language can be deceiving. Technically, User(s) cannot be compared with an IP address, because IP address association can change after the end of a periodic DHCP lease time. But again, if we treat the post to be addressed for a user in conjunction with an IP address, QoS is possible!

    Thanks
