One CA Certificate for Both Web and Email Protection

Hello There,

I have web protection (decrypt and scan) enabled on my UTM, I generated a CA and pushed it to all clients.

The CA was generated from Web Protection -> Filtering Options -> HTTPS CAs

Now I am trying to reuse the same CA generated previously for Email Protection too, but it doesn't seem to be a straight forward procedure for me, can someone please shed some light on how this could be done if possible?

Thanks!

  • No can do.   Web Protection generates a CA root certificate which is used to generate certificates on the fly to perform https inspection.   The UTM CA root certificate will only be trusted by PCs in your network to which you have pushed a copy of the root certificate.

Email Protection and WebServer protection require a host certificate from a commercial service, so that the certificate will be trusted by external entities.
