Automating the Installation/Upgrade/Licensing of Sophos UTM

Hello!

I am trying to automate the installation, upgrade, and licensing of Sophos UTM. I can see that there is a commandline tool however I can't find documention refering to CLI tools used to interact with the license files.

Will I need to use an advanced shell to configure files on the filesystem? If so, is there any documentation on where files live inside the Sophos UTM?

Is this all moot?

The appliance is installed through the AWS marketplace, so I am wondering if licensing is even necessary to configure.

Would it be a better approach to do the following?

 - Take a backup of the existing device config (https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000034929?language=en_US)

 - Spin up a new UTM appliance from the AWS Marketplace

 - Restore the backup.

Are there any sophos unique things I would need to keep track of?

  • Hi Patrick and welcome to the UTM Community!

I'm not sure what you're asking.  You can see the existing license with:

         cc get licensing license

Not sure how uploading a license at the command line would be desirable. If you choose the BYOL model on AWS, you must have a license for 150 or more users.
