[9.706] Only sees one of my 2 Intel 82574L NICs (both worked in earlier 9.x versions)

Hi,

I just freshly (re)installed 9.706009 on my MSI-IM945gse motherboard. (the system has been offline for a few years as I've been using virtualization lately, but it used to run 9.x well).

The board has TWO Intel 82574L PCI ethernet NICs, but the installer only sees one.

lspci shows both.

Let me know what other information is needed.
Thanks!

  • BTW, The recognized NIC is

    PCI Device ID:    0x10d3:0x9830

and is using the e1000e driver module.

I just installed the 9.707 up2date, with no change. But now I vaguely remember only the installer will configure new NICs.

  • Hey Barry,

Are you saying that you installed the 2nd NIC after you had run the UTM installation?  Does re-imaging from ISO solve this as you suspect?

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi Bob,

No, both NICs are integrated on the motherboard.

What I mean is that installing the version upgrade probably wouldn't have helped as it wouldn't have run the hardware detection phase.

(which is only done on new install and would also require a new ISO with whatever fix is needed to detect the NIC)

Is anyone from Sophos looking at this?

I don't want to use my work account to submit a support ticket for my home firewall.

    thanks
