SG105 Upgrade To XG

I have an SG105W hardware rev 2 that I want to upgrade to XG but when I load the software on boot it says "APPLIANCE NOT DETECTED". When I look at that list of "Contains Firmware For" I do not see the SG105. The following page however says it is compatible : Sophos SG appliances that are eligible for an upgrade to Sophos Firewall . Any help would be much appreciated. You can migrate to V17.5. You need a ISO for V17.5, which is not available on the website. Instead you can ask the Support to get the ISO Link.

Can you confirm which ISO file did you download to burn and install the SFOS into SG105?

On the page it says: Firewall OS for XG Series and the filename is: HW-18.0.5_MR-5-586.iso .

Sorry, I missed the fact that SG105 isn’t supported by SG105 (Rev 1 & Rev 2) appliance and that's why you're getting that error.

Thank you for that info. What are my options with respect to these SG105's. Can they be upgraded to v17.5x or can more memory be installed to support v18 or should they be left with the SG software and replaced with newer XG hardware?

Will the V17.5 OS continue to receive patches / bug fixes? I guess the better question is whether to leave it as an SG or do the upgrade to XG 17.5? Is there a EOL planned for SG105 yet?

Currently, There is no EoL declared yet. XG v17.5 will still receive patches. In fact, we just released a new firmware 17.5.16 MR16 Yesterday.

However, It's good if you upgrade to Newer XG or XGS hardware with v18 or v18.5 as new features will be implemented for v18 and above firmware (and supported devices) wherein 17.5 will receive patches for fixes and reported bugs. :)

As Lucar mentioned before 17.5 ISO is not available on the website to download, You can open a support case and request the ISO file for installation
