User License count Question for Ess. Firewall

Hello,

if an "Network Security Subscription" for 10 Users is purchased for an Essential Firewall and, say 20 Users are in the LAN, do the 20 Users still have Internet access? Is the license count only for Ipsec/Radius stuff (I would expect that).

I searched for this question in the FAQs, the logic behind the user count rule is somewhat intransparent.

    Morning,

    The UTM counts users based on how many unique IP's try to access the internet from inside the UTM. When running in essentials mode, the UTM ignore's IP count. However, as soon as you enable a subscription, you are no longer running an essentials license, and are limited to however many IP's your subscription permits.

    In your case, 20 users/IPs on a 10 user/IP license, the system will definitely complain as you've exceed your license count by well in excess of the 10% or so the system sends warnings out about. I don't know exactly what happens when you exceed any grace amount so somebody with more experience will need to chime in.
