Sophos Home for MAC consistently crashing on El Capitan

Sophos is suddenly causing a kernel panic when I run Carbon Copy Cloner.

Does a scan resume if Sophos crashes before it has finished, or there is a Kernel Panic?
I have had Sophos anti-virus scanning for two whole days and it looks as though it may take another two before it has finished. As my computer is very prone to kernel panics, I am worried that if this happens, the scan may start all over from the beginning…
