After weeks of my labor. I was able to get Synchronized Application Control running. I think this feature is Fantastic and will be great tools for Network administrator . It gives insight what is going on  in the endpoints. It will be a killer feature Palo Alto.....  Complete visibility and precise control ,Automated security and Protection for your users and data everywhere

  • Hi Vishvas, I am very glad to see that finally your central accont worked and that you like our feature. Thank you for your positive feedback and stay tuned for the improvements that will come next. :-)

  • I was looking for a post regarding the application control, ive also been trying to get this feature to work but have had no luck yet.  I've got Synchronized security registered to my Central account and ive enabled the synchronized app control settings so im sure i have the XG side OK now, Then on my Central account i have an application policy enabled for endpoints and servers but its set to detect and allow apps it finds and ive listed a couple of apps we use just to populate the policy.  Also the Firewall is detected by the endpoints in Central, but i still have an empty list in Synchronized application control unlike your full list.

Would you be able to briefly run through how you got yours to work?

    Thanks

  • Dear JK

I think you need to enable Lan and wifi in Enable Security Heartbeat, Enable Security Heartbeat and Enable Synchronized Application Control. Then in central In Early access program add Intercept X with the clients for update. Hope this will solve the issue.

  • Thanks for the reply, I didnt realise I needed the EAP to use this feature.  In that case there isnt much I can do now as I tried the Intercept x2 EAP at the very begining but I use Windows 10 insider builds and it wont work with these builds apparently.  Something to do with the new Windows Defender Exploit protection features Microsoft just added,  So looks like ill have to wait to use this feature then.

    Thanks

  • Hi John,

synchronized app control needs the endpoint that is sending details about the local apps and their network connections.

This functionality is implemented in the endpoint in the moste current "early adapter" released of the endpoint. Therefore you have to used the most current eandpoint to see applications in SAC.
