Did a clean install and wanted to do a restore from a backup, but the new version wont allow an older backup
*****Update****
The problem was the number of nics in the new installation, I forgot to add 1 nic and the restore wasn't possible.

Similar issue here.
Soft XG upgraded from v16.05 MR7 to v17 Beta with no issues. After booting, device didn't booted with the v16.05 MR7 configuration and responded on default IP: 172.16.16.16 on Port 1.
I was able to login with the credentials y had on v16.05 MR7 tried to manually upload the latest backup file. System accepted it successfully but after applying and rebooting, the device again responded on default IP: 172.16.16.16 on Port 1.
With all my frustration i had to rollback to v16.05 MR7. I had no more time to re-image completely the machine with v17 Beta and restore manually a backup file.
It seems that there is some kind of configuration compatibility issue between v16 and the new BETA.
The only "rarity" in my configuration is that i have a LAG and several VLANs running on that LAG.

Hi,
Please share backup of the SF16.5 MR7 version
have the same issue, i have XG430 (SFOS 16.05.6 MR-6) productive and working... Yesterday we install VM for testing with SF01V (SFOS 17.0.0 Beta-1) , but when i want to restore backup from original xg430 to new test VM , i got the message "Backup cannot be restored on current device" . The first check was on VM have 10 network devices..
Any help with it ?
thanks
Nicolas,
unfortuntelly for you, the issue you're suffering has nothing to do with the BETA. It just as simples as this:
Backup Restore From XGXXP Appliance to CRiVM Appliance is Not Supported
XGXXP means the following Sophos XG applainces: XG210, XG230, XG310, XG330, XG430, XG450, XG550, XG650, XG750
CRiVM means a SF01V ("VMWare", "Hyper V", "KVM", "Xen")
You can fin out more about this in the following KB article:

Kind Regards,

your welcome for your answer, but not, i got "API Import Fail" message, thanks anyway !

ok,. then this is like " start from scratch and test it " , from other solutions like fortigate , you have a tool to "transform" backup with differents versions to make it compatible.. well , thanks anyway for your time answering, have a nice day...
regards
Do the vm have the same number of nics installed?
Tried a backup/restore yesterday and it only worked if it has the same number or more.
Hi,
As per PM, The backup restore will is not working from SFOSv17 to SFOSv16
We do not support any kind of configuration restore from higher version of firmware to lower version of firmware
