XG Azure deployment failing

I'm trying to deploy an XG appliance PAYG on Azure but the deployment always fails.

How can I get support to get a successful deployment?

It doesn't give me any way to report the problem to Sophos in Azure.

  • Apologies for the very late response. Please can you provide the following:

    • Azure Subscription Model - Open Licensing, Enterprise Agreement, CSP, Pay As You Go
    • Sophos XG Sku - PAYG or BYOL
    • Deployment method - Azure Marketplace, Sophos provided template, Customer built/modified template
    • Deployment region - E.g. West US, UK West, Azure Special regions (Germany or China), Azure Government regions

    Thanks.

  • Hi David,

Yep, it is a little late...

Azure Subscription Model - Pay As You Go & Microsoft Azure Sponsorship

    Sophos XG Sku - PAYG

    Deployment method - Azure Marketplace

Deployment region - Australia South & South East

    Thanks

    Damien

  • Interesting. I just did a test deployment of the Sophos XG firewall (PAYG) in the Australia SouthEast region and it was successful. You mentioned above that you have two subscription models. Which subscription did you select for the deployment? - Pay As You Go OR Microsoft Azure Sponsorship? Does the subscription have a credit card linked?

  • Azure: PayAsYouGo Subscription

    location: EastUS

XG License: "Azure VM deployment fails if I choose "PayAsYouGo" "so I choose BYOL and thought of activating it later with trail account.

    Scenario:

I have a Sophos UTM 9.5 Virtual Appliance placed in our datacenter and I am trying to establish site-site route based (IKE) VPN between On-Prem Sophos UTM 9.5 with Azure Sophos XG Firewall.

    Issue:

The issue is after creating the Virtual Machine from the Azure Market Place I am not able to login to the Sophos XG Portal, it says "login failed" and even I tried to SSH in to the XG using putty but still it is not accepting the password which was created while creating Sophos XG Firewall virtual machine on Azure.

Troubleshooting done so far as follows:

    • On Azure End, Configured Network Security Group to allow 80, 443, 22, 4444 and all necessary ports needed for XG.
    • Raised a case with Microsoft and they say that the problem is with the Sophos XG image. Please help me in this case.

please help me sort this out

  • Hi Sujithkumar,

Is the issue that you can see the WebAdmin of the XG firewall but your password is rejected or you can't even get to the WebAdmin at all?

    Thanks.

  • On top of access denied issue, it was also not allowing to create virtual machine with PayAsYouGo Subscription and PayAsYouGo License, due to this I deployed the VM using BYOL license.

SophosXGFirewallon MicrosoftAzure QuickStartGuide - I just followed your documentation to deploy vm from the market place, it works but I am not able to login and even it is not azure portal to reset the password nor resetting the SSH Configuration as well. it looks like the base Linux OS of the SFOS is not accepting any change. Please investigate on this issue and keep me posted.

Good thing is I have evaluated SFOS virtual appliance with my on-prem hyper-v server as a virtual machine. it is really good in terms look and feel, user friendly UI, a lot of new feature like Router based VPN IKEv2 and lot more. I really look forward to upgrade our existing Sophos Hardware UTM 9 to SFOS.

Please assist me with your SFOS located on azure market place.

  •

On top of my previously posted issue, I am also facing issue while creating SFOS VM on azure with PayAsYouGo Subscription. please assist

  • I am able to login now. I was not aware that SFOS has user and admin portal separately.
