xgs 3100 firewall an new AP6 Series questions

Hi,

The access points of the APX series are end-of-sale on March 31, 2023.

The new AP6 can no longer be managed centrally via the firewall, here an XGS 3100.
The new AP6 series is only configured via Sophos Central or stand alone.
In addition, there will probably be additional license costs for each AP6 access point.

Did I understand that correctly?
Maybe someone can explain to me why the new AP6 cannot be managed via the firewall?
What is the meaning behind it?
Will the AP6 be manageable later over the xgs/firwall?
What happens to the existing APX access points when they reach end-of-life on December 31, 2027?
Can they no longer be used afterwards?

Thanks

  • The advantages of Central is, you manage all Sophos products over there. So to speak, you move from Firewall to Central and include a huge potion of new products. This is actually the most liked point about Central, that this console offers the full set of product support.
