The filesystem is already 19920896 (4k) blocks long. Nothing to do!

Hi

I am trying to resize the data disk following this KB https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000036775?language=en_US after restarting the VM and selecting from menu 5, 3 through putty, this is what I am seeing.

it's not resizing it. What am I doing wrong here? the FW is hosted through Ms Azure. Thanks

  • Hi Eric

I used both putty and Azure portal 'Serial code' both returning same output. no error it's just the message "The filesystem is already 19920896 (4k) blocks long. Nothing to do!" after running below. And yes, I do have right permission to change the settings in Azure, ran below as admin.

    1. Once the data disk is updated, start the virtual machine.
    2. Sign in to the Sophos Firewall via SSH.
    3. Select option 5 then option 3 to navigate to the Advanced Shell.
    4. In the Advanced Shell, type: resize2fs /dev/var
