Annoying fan

Today I got a brand new sophos xgs 116 firewall. 

This device has an absolutely loud and annoying fan-sound that crashes my ears. 

I cannot remember, that older xg sound similar. 

Does anybody else experience this high and loud fan with new devices?

    I think it's more complex than that. As far as I can tell, it's a combination of the surface on which you put the device and perhaps an assembly defect whereby a gasket (or something) that should be dampening vibrations isn't installed properly. At least that's my observations from an XGS87 that was replaced.

    The heat load of an XGS versus an XG is higher, so ears are also attuned to much lower levels. It could be that a slightly larger box and slightly larger fans should have been used, but it is what it is. Sophos replaces such units, so complaining and piling on doesn't make any sense.

    Lucar Toni already suggested to RMA the device. It may simply have some hardware issue.
